A short history

The first Wolraad Woltemade was established in Woodstock, but closed down after 125 years.

In 1975 the current facility was erected in Bothasig, and the Dep. Of Education asked the new school committee to use the name Wolraad Woltemade because of the heroic history of the famous Wolraad Woltemade.

The school started with 490 learners and 21 staff members. Since then, the staff has more than doubled, while the number of learners is just shy of 1,000.

The school anthem “There’s a Prince who will live in our Thinking” was written by Dirkie De Villiers and the music composed by his wife Doll De Villiers.
